The Maligne Canyon Icewalk Tour-Included
This is one of Jasper’s most popular and impressive winter adventures. Your Sundog tour guide will take you to the bottom of the Maligne Canyon – the deepest accessible canyon in Jasper National Park – where you will explore frozen waterfalls, ice caves, and incredible ice formations. You will learn about Jasper’s Maligne Valley, Karst topography, and the mystery of the “disappearing” Medicine Lake. The Maligne Canyon Icewalk Tour is a great option for anyone who does not ski or snowboard. Or if you are visiting for the week, get a full morning of skiing the slopes and then head into the Canyon for the afternoon. The Icewalk Tour covers approximately 3.5 kms (2.1 miles) and is mostly downhill. Participants are required to dress appropriately for the weather. Transportation is included and pick-ups are available from all Jasper accommodations. Please indicate your shoe size when booking as warm boots and ice cleats will be provided.
Departure: 10:00 a.m., 2:00 p.m. daily
Duration: 3-3.5 hours
**As this excursion is weather dependent, please confirm your booking with us 24 hours prior to departure.**

Big or small, there are lots of animals to see in Jasper! Elk, deer, sheep, goats, coyotes, wolves, and moose are just a sample of Jasper’s wild mountain fauna. Learn all about the ways these animals contribute to the rich diversity of the National Park and how they survive the mountain winters. Our guides are well versed in the history, geology, and ecology of the area and are happy to answer any questions you may have. As we travel through the Athabasca Valley we will show you some of the park’s most beautiful scenery, so have your camera ready to capture some amazing photos of the highlights of your visit.
This tour is the perfect way to spend a morning and your best opportunity to see the wildlife of Jasper! The Winter Wildlife Discovery Tour is a van tour with minimal walking.
